Dufry Sofia OOD

Dufry Sofia OOD is a joint venture between Dufry International AG (80%) and Bulgarian Airways Group EAD (20%). Since 2022, the company has been responsible for operating the duty-free retail stores at Vasil Levski Sofia Airport, offering travelers a carefully curated assortment of high-quality products across a wide range of categories. The portfolio includes perfumes and cosmetics, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, local delicacies and wines, confectionery, toys, sunglasses, leather accessories, handbags, watches, and jewelry. A selection of souvenirs and exclusive-label products - available only in Dufry Sofia stores - further enriches the customer offering.

Dufry Sofia is also the exclusive travel retailer in Bulgaria for Victoria’s Secret, presenting passengers with a distinctive collection of the brand’s most iconic items in the fragrance, lingerie, and accessories categories.

With over 3,000 sq.m of retail space, the company operates seven duty-free stores in the departures areas of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, as well as two additional stores in the arrivals area. These retail locations offer a modern and customer-centric shopping environment, designed to meet the expectations of today’s international traveler. The store concept successfully merges global retail standards with local character, creating a memorable shopping experience from the very first moments at the airport.

In November 2023, following the merger of Dufry and Autogrill, the newly formed group was launched under the name Avolta - today the world’s largest company in the travel experience industry. Since March 2024, Avolta has been publicly listed on the Swiss Stock Exchange, with a market capitalization of CHF 5.4 billion.

Avolta operates in over 73 countries, across more than 1,200 locations worldwide, and manages a network of over 5,100 retail and F&B outlets. These include stores and restaurants located in airports, cruise ships, seaports, and major travel hubs around the globe. The group’s portfolio includes some of the most recognized international brands, such as Nuance, Hellenic Duty Free, Hudson, Colombian Emeralds, World Duty Free, Dufry, and HMSHost.

In 2024, Avolta reported revenues of CHF 13.473 billion, up from CHF 12.535 billion in 2023, marking a 7.5% annual growth and reaffirming its strong position in the global market.
